Where To Find Sporasec
El Museo del Ferrocarril de Madrid welcomes you and offers its facilities to better understanding of the fascinating history of our railroad. Its seat is the old station of Delicias, one of the clearest examples are representative of the English industrial architecture of the nineteenth century. This building was opened in 1880 and was the first major railway station was Madrid. Was in use rail to the 1970's and since 1984 houses the Museum's collections.
Museum visits can find a complete collection of historic railway material. The first visit is ample opportunity for the Board of traction or nave of the station, which houses a varied sample of locomotives and passenger cars, through which to understand the evolution of traction (steam, electrical and diesel) in over a century and a half of existence of the railroad, and the different conditions under which passengers traveled by such vehicles. In their way are preserved steam locomotives in the early 1860 and some quite recent, as the powerful "Confederation", which was in service until 1975. There are also examples of the first electrical machines (the No. 3, made in Switzerland in 1907) and diesel that swept the English railway system and other unique vehicles associated with railway business. We can not overlook the Talgo II 440-096 or suburban unit that has recently joined the Museum's collection, passenger car or SA-4607, from the late nineteenth century.
On both sides of this ship was open several themed rooms, which include one devoted to old clocks of stations, the Model, where may be running various animated models, and railway infrastructure, which explains the main elements of the road.
The Museum External routes are Algodor interlocking and signal bridge, a unique feature of our industrial heritage of the 1920's, when I was running on the rail network allowing remote control of switches and signals. To round, the cafeteria is installed in a beautiful restaurant car of 1930.
The Museum hosts temporary exhibitions vary and has several activities aimed at children and families, including educational workshops and performances plays, which are developed throughout the year. Organizes various tours and open houses that match the Museum Day or other anniversaries in the history of rail, while providing a market for modeling the first Sunday of each month. To make matters worse, Annex park rail "Ferrocarril de las Delicias" garden train runs five inches, with different types of locomotives.
Museum is currently in the throes of change because it is being integrated in the Historical Archives and the Library Rail Europe's largest railway. At the end of this period of transition, museum visitors can access to its reading room and see all the fundamental literature of rail and transport sector.
